�����ҹ����1000���ϼ�92

On Saturday, May 5, �����ҹ����1000���ϼ�92 of the Cumberlands (UC) conferred 1,101 degrees during the annual commencement ceremonies.

“We are proud of our institution and of our graduating seniors,” said Dr. Larry Cockrum, UC President. “Graduation ceremonies give us a sense of order, a sense of being part of an endless historic tradition. Notwithstanding our own shortcomings, this campus has nurtured and inspired generations upon generations of students.”

The �����ҹ����1000���ϼ�92 held two services to celebrate its students and their accomplishments, one in the morning for undergraduates and one in the evening for graduate and doctoral students. This year’s undergraduate class included students who hail from 20 states and the countries of Australia, Brazil, Canada, Columbia, England, Germany, Japan, Malaysia, Russia, Spain and Thailand.

In all, 293 students received their associate’s or bachelor’s degrees while walking across the stage during the ceremony. The Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees conferred included 48 in Business Administration, 40 in Human Services, 39 in Elementary Education or Middle Grades (5 to 9), 35 in Criminal Justice and 31 in biology, among other bachelor’s degrees.

The second ceremony honored those graduating with their Master’s or Doctorate degrees. The predominant degree given was Master of Arts in Information Systems and Security, with 381 graduates participating in the ceremony.

“At Cumberlands, we are involved in molding, making, shaping and developing traditional hopes and dreams and core family values, like the old-fashioned potter who carefully molds and shapes the clay,” Cockrum told graduates. “Today you, our graduates, join the long and illustrious list of distinguished alumni. Today, the �����ҹ����1000���ϼ�92 family pauses to recognize you and the significance of this milestone in your life and in the life of the �����ҹ����1000���ϼ�92. Congratulations to the class of 2018.”
